For the Visual Learner: Part II

Okay, enough with the political rants (for now). In the Thanksgiving spirit, it's also important to remind myself of all the beauty around me. Bhutan is busting at the seams with beauty.

Here's another round of some of my favorite pictures over the last few months.

Monks at the local shop.

My neighbor consoles his son.

A man working to pave the road to school.

A woman prostrating at the temple door.

Monsoon season over Rongthung village.
During a rimdro (a ceremony to receive blessings while simultaneously cleansing a place of spirits and demons), one of the demons catches me taking pictures.

Preparing the paddies before planting rice.

Old soldier in Trashigang town.

Brokpa girls.

The nun my student and I sat down to tea with. (I wrote a blog post about it below if you're interested.)

Rice paddies meet the river.
My student's grandmother. (This is likely my favorite picture from the whole year in Bhutan.)

My colleague's mother waits to attend a rimdro.

Young monk.

Almost a camouflage effect ... almost.

A bold student takes up the challenge of hanging the flagpole string.

Students demonstrating the dress of a wide variety of cultures and ethnic groups that live in Bhutan.

Prayer flags, erected in the wind so as to carry the good messages across the world.
A visiting monk, as seen from my front door.
